New Name

Hey!

So I finally decided on a new name for the blog!!!

I ended up going with LoveStruck for a few different reasons!

The first is that it actually comes from the AC/DC song Thunderstruck.  I love this song, but Jon ADORES it!!! For what seems like forever he randomly starts singing this song...usually in the middle of the night when I'm trying to fall asleep.  It kind of drives me crazy, only because he starts singing it from the beginning... the 'noises' they make for singing any words, that is usually the part he sings.  It's funny now because it has really become apart of us, but it used to drive me up the wall!! What a dork!!



We also super LOVE Lady Gaga and she has a song called Starstruck! So that incorporates a little of us as well!!



I'm excited for the new changes!! I plan on starting my new posts next week!!

I hope everyone has a great weekend, I won't be posting anything because I will camping with my hubby for my birthday!!

I am so excited!! Today I had my first comment by someone I didn't know! And then to make it better I got a second comment and a new follower!!! Welcome Miss JMay!!

So I am really working on fixing up this little blog of mine and making is super fun and pretty and all that so that it will be pretty much awesome!! Eventually I think it would be fun to start doing Giveaways!!! Though I have no idea how to do that yet... It's definitely a goal!!

Should I change the name of the blog or do you like Peterson and Co.? I can't decide!! Let me know! I am struggling to think of other thoughts, so far I have 'The Mrs. and her Mr.' and 'Lovestruck' (maybe with a lightening bolt through it or something). I want to make sure it something that really represents Jon and I!! Please comment!! I need help!!

Lastly, if any one has any tips on how to redecorate my blog and make it look super cute and inviting, please let me know!

Laughter Is The Best Medicine

So yesterday, Sunday, we invited a bunch of the couples from Jon's M1 class over for game night!! We were so happy when 10 people showed up!! It was a blast!! Everyone brought a snack to share and we played some games!!

We started with Wits and Wagers. Jon loves it, and it can be pretty fun, but I really suck at it and end up feeling REALLY stupid!! I was happy when it was over. After that we played Partini, which is always a blast. We played girls vs. boys and the boys won by 2. Oh well. Still way fun! After that we played Apples to Apples!! GREAT game!! We had a blast!! We ended up playing to 6 green cards because people were winning too quickly. The green cards that Jon won, that were supposed to explain his personality, were all pretty similar, really funny, and totally not him!! It was great!!

When everyone left we sat down and watched the last episode of Design Star. I actually pretty much hated this season. They changed too many things, I didn't love any of the designers, and I was extremely unhappy that in the last episode it was the judges who chose the winner, not america's votes. Not...happy... But out of the last 2 people left the 1 I wanted to win did, so that was good at least. Anyway, Candice Olsen made the funniest face at one point. We kept rewinding it because it was so funny!! I just had to take a picture and show you!!

Haha!! That is quite the face to make on National television!

Then this morning as I was taking Jon to school I saw this...

So it's not a beam way up in the sky, but it still quite endearing! :)

Nail Polish Craze

I saw these super fun florescent colors of nail polish today and bought myself some!!

I painted my nails totally randomly and then was playing Rock Band later that evening. This is what I found!!

MY HUSBAND ROCKS FRIDAY!!

This week my husband rocks because he is dedicated!!

He works so hard to keep up with school and making sure he studies well for his tests!! I am always impressed with him. I don't know if I could work so hard and still have a good attitude when I'm not working. I do miss him, even when he is here he isn't really here, but I knew what I was getting into when he started medical school and I am excited for the journey. I know he is going to do his absolute best and that he will be an amazing doctor!!

I love my man!!

Fun Surprises

So my birthday is coming up in a little over a week and this morning I was thinking back to my 16th birthday.

My parents had thrown me a surprise birthday party a few days before my birthday!! My mom had taken me out shopping and when we came back to the house I saw a few cars parked in front of the house and all I said was how one of them was parked too close to the fire hydrant. I had just got my driving permit and was in that stage where I noticed everything wrong that people were doing. We pulled into the driveway and I saw hung up over the carport. 'HAPPY BIRTHDAY SHALAY'. I smiled and said something like how nice it was that my dad did something so sweet. My mom looked over at me and said 'You knew didn't you?' I was entirely confused. 'Knew what?' I asked. I then looked forward to see my backyard filled with all of my friends and decorations and food! I was so surprised!!

How did I not catch on until the very moment that people came out and said 'SURPRISE!!!' I really am such an easy person to surprise!! Haha.

That got me thinking of the time when my cousins gave me a surprise bridal shower. A few days before my mom had told me that my aunt was having a candle party and that me and my sisters were invited to go. I didn't really want to go. A candle party...I'm not too big on those kinds of things. So I put it out of my mind and the day of the candle party came around. I was not planning on going, I was much more looking forward to spending the day with my fiancé. However when I talked to him on the phone that day he told me he was really sick and couldn't do anything. (I found out later of course that he was just fine. He even showed up at the end of the party.) I was super bummed and after much coaxing from my mom, dragged my feet to the candle party, clearly not thrilled with the idea. We got to my aunt's house and when my mom opened the door my first though was. 'Wow, those decorations are my wedding colors. Weird.' Yes, once again, NOT catching on to what it was all about until everyone came out to surprise me!

I mean honestly...I really didn't get that!! I still laugh at myself for being so naive!

Anyone else have silly surprise party stories to share? I would love to hear them!!

Color Splash Excitement

10 Things I Love & 1 Thing I Don't

So I decided to change this up a little and add in 1 thing I don't like at the end of my posts. Just for a little fun!! I know a few my friends started doing this so feel free to add in the last one too, I don't mind! :)

1. Fossil

I LOVE this store!! They sell watches, jewelry, clothes (in some stores), bags, and other accessories! They have some of the cutest stuff!! My favorite pieces of jewelery they have are anything with this bird, this tree, and this owl!! SO CUTE!! They also have little key hanging from the clasp on most of their necklaces, it's so awesome! If only I could afford it! :)

2. Quidditch

I recently found out that people are actually playing Quidditch now!! Muggle style!! I found out the rules and how is played by one of my good friends who coaches his own team, he is also a big part of the Utah division, which I think is pretty cool!! I didn't think it was that big until I found out that this game is played everywhere!! Even a few teams outside the US. They even play at schools like Harvard!! Crazy!! So awesome!! I want to go to a game so bad, good thing they have one here!! SCORE!!

I love this style!! I have bought a few recently and I love them!! They look so cute with so many different kinds of styles and haircuts! It's so awesome!!

4. Asparagus

I didn't start eating asparagus until a few months ago but I really love it!! My favorite way to have it is to toss it with olive oil, salt, and pepper then toss it in the oven on 400 for 10 minutes, then when it's done you toss it in a lemon vinaigrette!!! SO YUMMY!! Funny story: I made some with dinner tonight and when we were done eating I looked over at Jon's plate and saw that he had eaten all of the the asparagus but had only eaten down half of the stalk. He things I should trim them more but I don't think so. I was thinking about it and realized that he reminds me of Thumper from Bambi.

Thumper's Mom: Thumper, what did your father tell you this morning?

Thumper: 'Bout what?

Thumper's Mom: About eating the blossoms and the leaving the greens....

Haha!! He is just like that, eating the blossom on top and leaving the stalk! Silly boy!!

5. Zooey Deschanel

She is just so darn adorable!! She is so funny and quirky and just so different from a classic movie star that I just love her! I love her clothing style and her funny characters in movies!! I want to be like her!! She is so beautiful but doesn't act all cocky and 'better than you'!! Her music is great and she is just...gosh... I don't know! I just LOVE her!

6. Snuggies

So I kind of hate to admit to this one. I was super against snuggies for the longest time, I mean come on, really, a blanket with sleeves? Really? BUT my Dad bought Jon and I University of Michigan snuggies for Christmas and while initially I laughed, I mean really...Really?!! I actually kind of love them!! It's so nice when I'm working on the computer and freezing my butt off and have to be typing, since that's what I do for work, it is just super convenient, so I will back off on snuggies... Crocs however...still against!!

7. Robert Downey Jr.

So I have not always been a Robert Downey Jr. fan, for no particular reason, but after Iron Man... Mmmmm Mmmm Mmm!!! He is so yummy!! I have a thing for that kind of movie character, the 'ladies man', rich, gets whatever he wants, cocky, sexy, and he knows it!! Something about that in movies or on TV, LOVE!! Gosh he is a sexy man!! Definitely a fav!! And he drives an Audi!!! * Squeal*

8. Lemon Zest

I love zest!! Lime zest, orange zest, but especially lemon zest!!! It adds so much...zestiness... to a dish!! Haha!! I made this awesome pasta tonight with a creamy lemon sauce that calls for 4 lemons worth of zest!! To DIE for!!!! Oh my gosh!! Num Num Num!!!! Live is good with a little zest!!!

9. Blue and Orange

I LOVE this color combination!! It makes sense, they are opposite on the color wheel, which means they always look amazing together, like red and green, and purple and yellow!! But orange and blue is SO pretty!! I actually have my living room in orange and blue right now! I have orange curtains (a tasteful orange of course), blue couch pillows, an orange and blue rug, and blue and orange accessories like vases, candles, and flowers. We also have a painting up that is mostly orange, so awesome!! I will take pictures soon I hope!! :)

10. Stars

I have always just adored looking at the stars!! One of my favorite things is so go camping, or even take a drive out to somewhere dark and look at the stars. They are so beautiful and full of wonder. There is nothing like that!! My favorite!

Oh my gosh. I know I am going to regret this because it is going to be stuck in my head all night but I have to tell you. I HATE this song!! I have always hated it!! With a passion!! You know it's hard to pick your most favorite thing because you like so many, or even hard to pick your least favorite because you don't like so many of them! Well this is my least favorite song of ALL time!! There is not a worse song, anywhere!! I don't know where this hate came from but I really really really don't like this song. I always put my hands over my ears and make nonsensical noises when it comes on, my family thinks it's funny and turn it up or sing it... Yep...pure hate...

On a more positive note, I love you all!!! :) :) :)

Canoeing

There is a lovely river that runs right through the center of downtown Ann Arbor. When we first got here Jon went canoeing with the rest of the M1s and he had a great time! So last Saturday he decided that we should go together. I have not been the most outgoing person in past years and doing adventerous things often gets me a little anxious. But no longer am I going to be this woman!! I want nothing more than to be the fun, outgoing, spontaneous, adventerous girl!! First step, canoeing!

I was a little worried once I saw the size of the canoe, I forget how long they can be. I felt there was no way it was going to be successful. But I had a BLAST!! We laughed and splashed each other, we went fast but we definitely spent some time just going slow and enjoying the view. We almost tipped over 3 times and just managed to save ourselves each time!!! We went in the morning and the weather was perfect!! The river was so beautiful!! It was just sublime!!

We even stopped in some lily pads on the side of the river in hopes of seeing frogs, we didn't see any but it was so pretty it didn't matter!! The whole trip took about 2 hours and we loved every minute!! It was definitely a fun adventure and I can't wait until the next one!!

Things are going so great here! We couldn't be happier! We have 4 new frogs as pets that we caught on our house. We hope to get lots more. The snake is in her big cage and loving it! The cats are happier than ever!! Even Asrielle has been ridiculously cuddly, which is just not like her! I am loving it! She is by my side almost every moment. Silly kitty. Even right now she sitting on my lap, perfectly content. :)

Jon took his first test and passed!! He had a study group at the house the day before and I got to meet a few more of his classmates. I'll tell you what, it is so intimidating to be surrounded by so many super smart doctors-to-be, yikes. But they are all nice, so that's good!!

There are so many things I want to do now that we are here and I am trying to get my brain to slow down enough to think straight so I can write them down and get them done.

I am hoping to be able to takes pictures, and maybe a video tour, of our home soon. I just want to make sure it's all finished, pictures are hung, and all that. Hopefully soon!! Love you all!!

10 Things I Love

So this is a new thing I am going to start doing. I go through a lot of different phases where I can't get enough of certain things that I find I absolutely love!! So I thought I would blog about them! This won't be weekly or anything, just whenever I feel like it!! 1. Dalmatians

I think they are so awesome!! Jon doesn't like dogs but if I can convince him to get a dog one day, maybe when we have kids, then I think I am going to try to get a dalmatian! I have heard they are bad with kids but I have also heard that that is a myth, so we'll see. I think they are super pretty and very classy! I always think of 101 Dalmatians when it shows all the dogs and all the classy dogs like big poodles and stuff. I love them! 2. Lately I have really enjoyed Ms. Katy!! She is so pretty and so adorable!! I love a lot of her music. I have always love 'I kissed a girl' and her newer songs 'California Gurls' and 'Teenage Dream' are equally awesome!! She is so cute! I love watching her music videos!! I am not a big car person, a typical female trait I suppose, but lately I cannot get enough of the new Audis!! They are so pretty! I love the pretty bright dotted lights on the front and the contrast of the white and black!! I want, I want, I want!! I think I first fell in love when this car was on Iron Man!! LOVE! 5. Fireflies

I have never before seen these glowing bugs until we moved to Ann Arbor. Now I get to see them every night in my yard and I absolutely love them!! They are so cool and very stereotypically magical! They are super romantic looking and look like little fairies flying around!! I went outside one night and had a blast trying to catch them! I caught 2!! And it was totally worth the 45 mosquito bites I received in return!! 6. 'Dynamite' by Taio Cruz

I love this song! It's so fun and makes we want to dance! I always turn it up really loud when it comes onto the radio! It's one of those songs were I love every part of it! There isn't any part that I don't like or am so-so about! It's so fun! 7. The Hunger Games

Jon and I just finished reading this book together and I really loved it! It was very interesting and kept me sucked in the whole time!! I love reading books with my husband, so that made it even better! We already have the second book and are so excited for the 3rd to come out this month! I highly recommend this book!! 8. I know this show has been off of the air for quite a while now but we just started watching it this summer! We are almost done with it and we just love it! We watch it every night! All of the characters are so funny!! I think my favorite is Gob and Buster but I love all of them! Great show! Too bad it got taken of the air! Thanks to Jess and Mac who introduced us to it!! 9. There are so many angel wings right now in clothing and jewelry and I absolutely LOVE it!! They are so pretty! I want to have so many of the pieces of jewelry I have seen around! For me, angels are not the cute little cherubs or sweet guardians sitting on our shoulder. To me, angels are power, there to help but they are not sweet and cuddly, they should be the amazing and powerful heavenly beings that they are! I love that view of them. 10. Black Nail Polish

It's no longer a 'gothic' or 'punk' thing. Black nail polish has taken on a whole new life, black is the new pink sort of look. It looks very modern, classy, yet adventurous! It is definitely my new favorite color for my nails. I just love it!! So there is my first '10 Things I Love' post! I hope this will be a fun new addition to the blog!! :)
