Feeling Bubbly In Ann Arbor

We finally got our Internet installed this morning so I can tell you all about our trip!! We left Dallas on Sunday morning and got to Nashville that evening. We stayed with the Fillmore's and had such a great time with them! They are so awesome!! On Monday morning we packed up the truck and then on Tuesday morning we made our way to Ann Arbor!!

Driving up here was such an amazing feeling! The drive was beautiful and we definitely enjoyed it! We had been waiting for it for such a long time and it was so exciting!!

The best part was after we had passed over the Michigan border and we were about to pass the Ann Arbor city limits. We were listening to the radio, a typical station that seems to play the same 10 songs that are most popular right now and right as we were getting ready to pass into Ann Arbor the song 'Bubbly' from Colbie Caillat came on the radio. Our wedding song, the one that is on our video, the one we danced to on our wedding day and one we haven't heard on the radio very often lately. I definitely almost cried. It was so amazing, like a sign that we were supposed to be there and everything was going to be perfect!!

So far it has been! Ann Arbor is amazing!! I already want to stay here forever! It is such a cute little town, a small town feel with big town excitement. There is so much to do here! There are tons of little privately owned shops and a bunch of super old vintage places. Like a classic bus station and a cute little hamburger restaurant. There as so many cute and colorful houses, I just want to have them all! I am planning to go and take pictures of all of these things, we just haven't had the time yet.

That night we had dinner at a random sushi restaurant that we drove by. It ended up being amazingly good and pretty inexpensive! We ordered 4 rolls and they gave us miso soup and salad to start off with! Awesome!! They also had pickled cucumber instead of pickled ginger! So delightful! Then the owner came out and chatted with us a little bit and then gave us a free roll!! It was so yummy! We really loved it!!

We spent all day Wednesday looking for a place to live. We looked at probably at least 12 different places and ended up deciding to go with the first place we looked at. It was the biggest size as well as the cheapest price. We moved all our stuff in on Thursday and things are going swimmingly! It's in a mobile home park about 15 minutes outside of the center of downtown Ann Arbor. It's pretty new and in good shape and we absolutely love it! We will be renting for a year and then have the option to buy if we want to. There is so much space! We can actually fit all of our stuff!!

The cats love it too, they have been chasing each other around for days!! They keep running across the linoleum in the kitchen and slipping on it! I really need to try to catch it on video!! It's pretty funny! Jon also caught a frog on our back door our first night at our place!! Awesome!!

Jon had a fun activity with the rest of the M1 students on Friday (M1 for a 1st year med student, M2 for second year, etc). They went canoeing down the river and had a really good time! I started up work again today! Tomorrow is Jon's white coat ceremony and we are so excited!! I'll record it and post it for the world to see! On Monday he has orientation and gets started on school!! It's crazy! I can't believe it's finally here!! We are so excited and happier than ever!! We are ready to move into more of a 'save money because we won't have much to spend' phase and it's going to be great!!

We love our lives!!

P.S. Congrats to Whitney and Kelli who have just had their precious little babies! Welcome to the world Issac and Ella!!

Last Friday In Texas

It's My Husband Rocks Friday!!

This week my husband rocks because he is so good with kids!

Jon has always been so sweet with little kids. He knows how to talk to them and how to play with him and they just love him. I imagine that he learned it from having a sister that was born when he was in high school, so he has had some practice. I just love watching him. I am not as good as it. I don't know how to talk to other people's kids very well, though I do try, I just always feel a little bit awkward. It's something I need to work on.

But today one of the other salesman and his family came over to watch us feed our snake. They have 2 little girls and a boy and they are so cute. They weren't scared at all and Jon sat on the floor and told them about the snake and how to touch her. He let them hold her and put her around their shoulders. He showed them her 'rainbowy' tummy and they just loved every minute of it!

It's so fun to watch and I know that one day he is going to make a really amazing daddy!!

100th POST!!!

That's right!! This is the 100th time I have posted on my blog!!! It's so exciting!! I can't believe it!! It has been a good ride so far! We have a done a lot of things and made a lot of changes in our lives and I'm excited to see what the next 100 posts will bring!!

My Husband Rocks Friday!!
This week my husband rocks because he is so romantic!! He is so creative for dates, holidays, and little things just because! He has bought me flowers for no specific reason, he offers massages often, and he loves to just be with me! Our best times in our marriage are when we are totally alone with no one around, which is one reason I am so looking forward to going to Michigan!!

This week I decided to do something special for him because we haven't been totally alone for a few weeks. I made him his favorite dinner (pesto calabrese), put on a special CD that he made for me when we were first married, and put candles everywhere. We ate dinner and enjoyed each others company and when we were done eating we put on 'Shakespeare In Love' and I gave him a body salt scrub. We spend the night wrapped in each others embrace and enjoying every minute of it. It was so amazing!! I am learning more and more about him every day and I look forward to learning more. I am so in love with my man!!

Coins and Critters

Yesterday morning the salesman got a fun incentive! They got to go diving for money! There were $200 worth of gold dollars plus $100 worth of quarters that were tossed into the pool and the salesmen took turns to go in and collect as much as they could.

The order they went in depended on how many sales they got the day before. Everyone got to take two breaths under the water unless you didn't sell one the day before, then you only got one breath. Jon was 4th on the list and he got 2 breaths!

They had such a good time! Once everyone had had their turn then everyone got into the pool for a free-for-all as they all scrambled to collect the remaining money!

Jon did awesome and ended up with $24.50!!! We are using that money to go and see 'Despicable Me' this weekend!!

On our way home Jon and one of the other salesman found a squirrel and proceeded to chase it and then try to make it fall from the tree!

That night we went to the pool and while we were talking a frog just hopped right into the pool and started swimming around. Jon and I immediately took off after it and watched it swim around for a while. We picked it up and played with it a little and then took it home. Jon showed the cats and they just loved it!! We have it in a safe and comfy home and plan on playing with it a little more in the pool tonight before we let it go. It is so fun!!

Also, MY HUSBAND ROCKS this week because he listens to me. Just a small example of this was when he came home from the store yesterday and had bought me Cap'n Crunch, just the original, no berries, no nothing. I have told him before that my favorite part of the cereal was not the berries but the rest of it and so he came home with just the regular cereal. He is such a sweetheart. He really wants me to happy and it means to much that he listens to me, even for silly little things like cereal!! He is an amazing man!!

We are looking at places to live in Michigan and have pretty much decided on a place to live. We are still looking at other options but things are looking really good and we are so excited to start our new lives there!!

Huckleberries

I was looking through some files on our computer from back when Jonathan and I were dating and when we were first married and I found this.

He gave it to me for our first Valentine's Day after we got married. He sent it to my work along with a gorgeous bouquet of pink lilies! It was the sweetest thing ever!! I absolutely loved it and thought I would share!

He changed the words to the song 'Huckleberry' by Toby Keith so that they fit with our life together!

The first verse is about the day we met!
The second verse is about Jon's first summer with Pinnacle!
The third verse is about our wedding day!
The chorus was changed from 'maraschino cherry' to 'ripe red raspberry' because raspberries are my favorite!

Gosh I love my man!!

HUCKLEBERRY

Just at an old square dance without hoping for a spark
Was a bright eyed beauty with a smile to charm a lark
Being in her presence was sublime
He said, "Hey you know, I like to ice skate, come with me sometime?"

Baby I'll be your Huckleberry, you don't have to double dare me
If the world gets wild and scary count on me to be right there
You're so extraordinary, sweet like a ripe red raspberry
We'll grow up and we'll get married
I'm gonna be your Huckleberry
Mmmmmm

Later on that summer he had to leave her all alone
Decided he would make some money then hurry on back home
She was so brave when he drove out of view
She said, "I would drive 500 miles just to spend the day with you"

Baby I'll be your Huckleberry, you don't have to double dare me
If the world gets wild and scary count on me to be right there
You're so extraordinary, sweet like a ripe red raspberry
We'll grow up and we'll get married
I'm gonna be your Huckleberry
Mmmmmm

Snuck off finally after the best day they'd ever had
She looked so pretty in her white dress, her smile made him glad
So happy in his heart that he could fly
She said, "Baby you know I'm yours forever, I'll love you til I die"

Baby I'll be your Huckleberry, you don't have to double dare me
If the world gets wild and scary count on me to be right there
You're so extraordinary, sweet like a ripe red raspberry
We grew up and we got married
Forever your own Huckleberry
Mmmmmm

I hope you all have a great Independence Day!!!

My Amazing Husband

MY HUSBAND ROCKS FRIDAY!!

My husband has been such a stud this week! He is so excited to get to Michigan and instead of just giving up on work he has worked even harder to make sure that he can get in as many sales as he can before we leave!! I can't believe how fast it is coming up! We couldn't be more thrilled!!

He has been so supportive and encouraging! I just started my new job and I'm pretty sure he is even more excited about it than I am! He loves knowing that I am working while he is and it makes me feel like I am helping out in some small way! It's a good feeling and I am really enjoying it so far! I generally don't like working but I have actually been enjoying this and it is much better than the alternative which is sitting at home, doing nothing, and feeling like I'm just a burden.

It has been a little tough with trying to balance work, my sister being here, people wanting to hang out during the day, and still trying to make sure that dinner gets done, the house is cleaned, the laundry is done, and making sure to show my husband how much I love him but he is being so understanding and has encouraged me to just concentrate on work and we can work together on everything else.

He has been such a sweetheart, just full of love and way cuddly. I can't get enough!! More than 2 and 1/2 years later and I still want to be with him every second of the day! He is the best husband in the world!!!

New MT Job!!

I just started a new job! The last one was not really working out. It was not steady enough and I needed more work. So I just started a job with a new company. I started working yesterday and so far I really like it! It's a lot better! I even get benefits after three months! I have a steady work flow and the work is a lot more like I was taught in school! I really love it so far!

I'm excited to be able to start bringing in some money for us, especially since once Jon starts medical school he won't be able to work. It is a lot of pressure on my shoulders but I know it won't be forever and I'm glad I can help support him! We leave in 3 and 1/2 weeks and I can't believe it!!! We are so excited to stop worrying about selling and move on to something bigger and more exciting!!

I am enjoying spending time with Amber! It's so nice to have her here!! I miss the rest of my family but she's so great so it's okay!! I adore that girl!!

I feel so grateful for all that has been going on in our lives! It's going so well and I really appreciate all that Jon is doing! He is so wonderful and inspiring and encouraging! I don't know what I would do without him!
