{ My Baby Story- Part 1 }

One of the reasons why I haven't blogged in the last few months was because I knew I was pregnant and we weren't ready to tell people yet.  And since that was the biggest thing going on in my life, I had no desire to talk about anything else.  haha!

But now we have told everyone and so I thought I would share our story!

In November I miscarried, I was only around 10 weeks pregnant but it was still devastating.  Even though it is super common, 1 in 4 pregnancies end in miscarriage, it was still one of those things that you think "Well that won't happen to me."  It was really hard and there was a lot of pain and sadness.  However, it did bring Jonathan and I even closer together and it meant everything to me to have him there.  I didn't have to go through it alone.

My doctor is INCREDIBLE, and I really appreciated the way she handled the situation and encouraged us for the next time we got pregnant.  We started trying again not too long after that.

The due date from my miscarriage would have been on May 27th, 2013.  As that date drew closer I found myself desperate to be pregnant again.  I wanted to be pregnant before that date came.  I decided that no matter what, I wanted to take a pregnancy test on that day.  It was a little earlier than they recommend you take the test, but I didn't care.  I just had to try on that day, I had to know.

So, expecting failure for another cycle, I took the test that day.  AND IT WAS POSITIVE!! I was shocked! I was sure it was going to be negative, Jonathan was sure it was going to be negative! But we both looked down at that test and it could not be more clear that we were pregnant again! And what could have been a very sad day, turned into a super happy one! We couldn't have been more excited...and worried.

The next few months would be filled with constant worry, worry that I would miscarry again.  We didn't tell anyone this time, though we did end up having to tell our bosses at one point.  We were excited but scared, we didn't want to feel that loss again.

A few days after we found out I had gone in for some blood work and scheduled my first doctors appointment.  About a day or so later I got a call from my doctor.  She was so happy on the phone! She said that she saw my name on her schedule and she was excited for me! She said it totally made her day to see my name! She said my tests came back fine but that she wasn't calling about that, that she just wanted to congratulate us! I love my doctor!

My doctors appointments could not come quickly enough.  Every appointment I had feared that she would not find the heartbeat, that it wouldn't be there anymore, that I would have a repeat experience from last time.  But she never even had to search for my baby, within seconds she had located it, every single time.  It was a relief.

Right around the time that I found out I was pregnant, I got a call from my brother.  Him and his wife were going to start trying for a baby! They had some questions, which I happily answered and I was excited for them! A month after that they called to tell us that they were pregnant!! They had only tried for a month, one cycle, and they were already pregnant! I was a little jealous of course, but super happy for them!!

My due date is January 27th, 2014.
Their due date is February 26th, 2014.
We are almost exactly a month apart.

And they told everyone the day that they took the positive pregnancy test! So now, everyone knows about them but no one knows about us and we are due earlier! Turns out that some members of my family began to wonder if I might be pregnant, mostly due to the fact that I was nothing but ecstatic for my brother, when all of them know how much I wanted to have the first baby on my side of the family (as the oldest).

So we finally made it to my second trimester! We had made it past the point where most miscarriages take place.  My first trimester was fairly easy.  A little nausea but nothing too severe.  I was almost disappointed.  All I wanted was some extra confirmation that I was really pregnant, but in the end I can't really complain.  :)
So we were finally ready to tell our families! We told every one through Skype, we didn't really do anything big this time, but showed them a picture of the ultrasound.  Everyone was thrilled.  Some even cried.  It was so sweet! It was kind of funny to tell my family, and especially my brother and his wife, since we are due before them.

Everything continued to go well! We did our first trimester screen and the chances of our baby having a chromosome abnormality is extremely low! It was a relief.  We have been so happy and excited!

At just before 20 weeks we had our anatomy scan appointment!! It was so awesome how much you could see of our little baby! Every little bone was visible, you could even see all the chambers of the heart! We even counted all 5 toes on one foot! It was so fun!!

We wanted to find out the gender but we didn't want them to tell us there.  So we had them write it down for us! That day we went to Party City with a box and the envelope and asked the worker there to fill the box with the appropriate colored balloons!  We then brought the box home, decorate the outside a little bit and decided to open it in the room that will be the nursery! We opened up the box and found out that

WE ARE HAVING A BOY!!!

Here is the video we made:

I was so excited! I had sort of been hoping for a girl, but as soon as I saw those blue balloons I was nothing but thrilled!! I can't even wait for all the fun things we will be able to do with him!  We had a gender reveal party a few days later and made cupcakes with blue frosting in the middle for everyone to bite into! It was a lot of fun!

As far as names go:  We know his middle name will be Jonathan but that is all we are sure of right now. Naming a person is hard!!

So here I am, halfway through my pregnancy and happy as can be!!

{ Dunstan Baby Language }

I saw this video a few months ago shared by a few friends on Facebook...

It's about a program called "Dunstan Baby Language" where this woman who has a photographic memory for sound started to realize that baby's were all speaking their own language.  It consists of 5 words that let you know what the baby needs and ALL babies around the WORLD use the same 5 words!

*This photo is not mine

I was pretty interested in it and looked at more videos about it and then decided to buy the DVDs!  I watched it as soon at it was delivered to my house and I was really excited to try it out, but realized that it would be learned best once I had a baby of my own.

Then yesterday during church there was a baby blessing and the baby started crying.  I was listening to the sound and it took a minute or two before I decided that I thought the baby was saying 'neh' which is the word for hunger.  As the baby was brought back to her mom, who was sitting right behind me, the mom said that she was hungry and pulled out a bottle feed her and she quieted down. I was incredibly happy that I understood the word she was saying! It made me want to watch the DVDs again and keep trying to pay attention!

If I can have even a tiny bit of experience with listening to baby's cries before I have a baby of my own then I will already be ahead of the curve! I can't wait to continue to practice!

{ Biorhythms- Phlomax }

Do you remember when my awesome hubs did a rap for 'Biorhythms' a few months ago?

If not, I talked about it HERE!!

Biorhythms is a show that the medical school puts on where students get to perform dances, songs, and things of that nature.  Last time Jon's rap group was called 'Phlomax' and this time they got the group back together (with a few new members) and wrote a new rap! It was even better than last time! They did great!! Everyone thought it was hilarious (even though I personally did not understand some of the jokes!)

It's about pathologists (doctors who work in a lab) versus internists (doctors who work directly with patients).

{ Best Birthday }

I felt really bad because I hardly took any pictures of Jon's birthday this year!! How could I just forget!? I feel terrible.

On a more happy note though, Jon said that his birthday this year was the best he has had since we got married, so at least I am getting better in the gift giving and holiday celebrating departments! :)

Jon was gone most of the day at his final practice for Biorhythms, which is a production that the medical school puts on every year, usually mostly with the first years, and they perform dances and singing and you can sign up for as many performances as you want.  Jon signed up for 2.  He did a rap and a dance, kinda bollywoodish, I forget what it's called. Anyway, so he was gone all day for that.

He did come home in the middle of the day for a break and he opened his presents then.  He got a robe which he asked for, Super Mario Bros for the Wii which he is playing as I type this, and a magazine all about him with letters and stories from a bunch of his friends and family!  He loved everything!

So that evening he had his performance, he did so awesome! Especially in his rap, who would have thought that my husband could rap? It was great! They rewrote the words to California Dreamin' and Slim Shady with a bunch of inside jokes about medical school.  Obviously I didn't get most of them but everyone who did thought it was hilarious! :) Pardon the bad pictures.

Jon and his partner Ashley

Afterwards the two of us went to get ice cream for his birthday and then we went to meet everyone at a bar to party but his shin splits were hurting really bad so we left early and went to get free birthday tiramisu and a pizza across the street.

The next day we had a bunch of people over for a BBQ.  A few people even brought him presents which was so sweet! We had delicious hamburgers and then carrot cake! He had a great time.  Again, I didn't take pictures of any of this. Geez! I'm glad he had a good time though!

This is his rap performance.  His group was called Phlomax.  He is the first person in this video and later is the one who jumps over the guy.

{ Day 11 & 12: This Is My Town }

DAY 11:  WHAT IS IN YOUR MAKE UP BAG.

I almost decided to skip day 11.  It's just my make up bag.  It's probably pretty similar to yours. But I figured it wouldn't hurt, I just don't want to take pictures.

So, I use Covergirl Lash Blast Fusion mascara, Bare Minerals for coverage, and I have a mix of eyeshadows from Mary Kay that I have had for way too long, and from Smash Box which I love.  Other than that, I have lipsticks from tons of places, black eyeliner pencil, a pair of tweezers, my brushes from  Bare Minerals, and some other random things that I hardly ever use.

So there you have it! :)

DAY 12:  A PHOTOGRAPH OF THE TOWN YOU LIVE IN.

I did get the title of this post from the song 'My Town' from Montgomery Gentry.  I love country music, I go through phases where I don't listen to it for a while, but the past few weeks I can't get enough! :)

Anyway, so here is a picture I took on our first day in Ann Arbor! I love Ann Arbor! It has a cute small town feel with big city amenities! It's kind of perfect! I adore it!

{ Days 6, 7, and 8 }

The weekend plus me getting sick did not help me stay updated, big surprise I know! But I'm catching up and that is what counts!

DAY #6 - A PHOTO OF AN ANIMAL YOU'D LOVE TO KEEP AS A PET.

There are quite a few things I would love to keep as pets but I'll stick with #1 on my list!! :)

(Picture found  here)

A Toyger!!! It's a newer breed of cat specifically bred to look like tigers! Look at those lovely stripes!! They are slightly larger than an average house cat, have big paws, noses, and ears.  I want one SO BAD!! But they are definitely on the pricey side so it will have to wait a bit!

DAY #7-  YOUR DREAM WEDDING

This could be quite a long one for me so I'll keep it short, I am really into design and I love the idea of planning weddings.  Mine was super amazing!! The colors were bright and happy!! Bright blue, super bright yellow, and hot pink! It was wonderful!!

And I had the most amazing man at my side to share the day with! I'm so lucky to have him!

DAY #8- A SONG TO MATCH YOUR MOOD

I REALLY miss California right now! I'm in a pretty happy, sexy mood, so that works too!

{ Suddenly Life Means So Much }

Yesterday was a special day for Jonathan and I, January 12, 2007 was the day we met and it's always been fun for us to think back on that day, 4 years ago now, that we first saw each other.  It was a crazy day and talking about it always gets us laughing, we were so silly then, knowing nothing about each other.  It was an amazing day and the start of something truly remarkable.

This song has always reminded me of the day we met and now I'll never have to go back to the day before Jonathan.  :)

Last night we went on a date to celebrate!  We went out to dinner with a gift card that Jon got for helping one of his classmates feed her pets while she was gone over Christmas break.  It was so nice of her to give him something like that and we definitely enjoyed getting out.  I absolutely love downtown Ann Arbor! There is a lot to do and lot to see and it's just fun!  We had a fun time, it's always nice to get away from the house and talk.  Even though we spend a lot of time together at home, I am usually working or he is studying and it's nice to get away from the distractions and concentrate on just the two of us.

After dinner we came home and watched the movie Catfish (so crazy!) and enjoyed our time together! It was marvelous!!

Day#11

Kitty has not been feeling well lately and has been super unsocial.  She found a warm spot in my newly cleaned towels sitting on top of the dryer.  I guess I'll just have to wash them again.  :)

Day#12
I wore this necklace on our first date and it has been broken for quite a while now but I didn't have the heart to throw it away.  Jon fixed it for me a few days ago so I wore it on our date!

Day#13
My favorite mug!! Nothing like a warm drink on a cold day.  I love Peter Pan! (Not Tinkerbell, specifically Peter Pan. :) ) My dream is to decorate our someday future child's nursery/bedroom with a Peter Pan theme.  How perfect is that?!

Simply Having A Wonderful Christmastime

We put the lights up on our house over the weekend!! It looks awesome!! Jon still wants to do a little more but that won't be done until after we get back from our trip to Utah!! (We leave in a week from today! Crazy!!)

Jon also fixed up the car to get it ready for the winter.  We had to get a new battery because it kept dying on us! Jon figured out that it was because it was leaking so it was losing power really fast! But he fixed it up by himself as well as bunch of other things that needed to be done and now it's all ready for the winter and we saved a butt load of money because we didn't need to have a mechanic do it! My husband is so great! He is such a good handyman!! He also put up a gutter over our front door because since we didn't have one and we kept getting dripped on whenever it rained!

It still hasn't snowed here and I AM SO SAD!! Mostly because I don't think it will snow before we leave and I bet it will snow before I get back (3 weeks later) and that means I will MISS our first snow in Michigan!! Poo!!

AND I found out from Jon yesterday that Stephens brand hot cocoa is a FREAKING UTAH thing!!! NOOOOOO!!!! Stephens is the best!!! They don't have anything awesome out here!! What about all the different flavors?!?! Chocolate mint, french vanilla, and my all time favorite Irish cream (YUM!)!! I don't know what I'm gonna do, it sucks, but I guess it is just hot cocoa, I'm sure I'll survive!!

They started playing Christmas music on the radio though!!! YAY!!!!! I am so excited!!! It's definitely Christmastime!! The commercials on the radio and TV are filled with Christmas ads and it's the best!! We got peppermint bark at Costco yesterday!! It is to DIE for!!!! You must try some!!

So things are going well! I am loving my nursery calling in church. Those kids are so precious!! I'll share some stories later.  Jon is a Sunday school teacher now but he won't have to teach until we get back; or he gets back anyway since I'll be there 2 WEEKS longer than he is! I'm gonna miss him so much but it will be fun when we get to be together again! It will be the longest we've been apart since we've been married! I know plenty of people who have husbands in the military though so I really can't complain!!

We got new insurance through my work and so far it has been amazing!! We finally have maternity insurance (for when we need it) and we have started a 'save for a baby' fund! Yay!  Also, my birth control prescription is SO much cheaper and that will really be a blessing!! Things are really falling into place for us now and it is very exciting!

Jon is doing well in school and he is really enjoying it!  Work is going better and better for me as I am getting better and faster at it! It's been awesome!

AND our 3 year Anniversary is on Saturday!!! I can't believe it has been 3 years!! It has been the best years of my life!!

Anyway!! Let me know if you want to do something while I'm in Utah!! I do have to work while I'm there but I'll have time in the evenings and mornings so let me know!!

This is my FAVORITE Christmas song!!! Enjoy!! (The song, not the video)

Connor Judd Fillmore

Here is an even better video!!

My best friend Rochele had her baby on October 18th!  He weighed 8lbs, 3 oz and was 21 inches long!

I am heartbroken that I don't know when I'll finally get to see him in person but we are hoping to get on Skype soon so we can at least see him!

Her husband Kevin, just posted this on Facebook and YouTube and I think it is the most precious video I have ever seen! I definitely cried during the whole thing!  Thanks so much Kevin! (Hope you don't mind me sharing your awesome work!)  *** And don't worry, nothing scary in the video! :)

All Is Love

I found this great blog yesterday called Gwen in Love.  It's definitely a good one! The new button I just put up (see below to the left) is from her site.  Her blog is "An old fashioned girl's guide to love, marriage, and rockin' hot sex."  I really like it and she posted this video on her blog that I just had to share.  I think is SO cute and how much fun would it be to do this with your honey?

Michigan Football

The University of Michigan football stadium is huge!!! They just hit a record of people in attendance and it is one the top largest stadiums in the world!!

We got to go to the Michigan vs. Bowling Green game on Saturday and we had a blast!!

We sat in the student section, right up at the front, on the corner of the end zone! It was freaking amazing!! We had a blast doing the cheers and singing the school song (which I did finally learn the words to) and doing the coolest crowd wave I have ever seen!! We had a super great time!!

Here are some pictures and a video!!

TOUCHDOWN!!

Field goal kick!

Love Story Meets Viva La Vida

My sister told me about this song and I think it is just stunning! So, I thought I would share it with all of you! I hope you like it as well! Enjoy!

Love Story Meets Viva La Vida- Jon Schmidt
